Annual Meeting 2024 – Olympic Legacy Forum and General Assembly

The Olympic Capital, Host City of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne was proud to invite all Olympic Cities and Olympic legacy stakeholders to attend the 2024 Olympic Legacy Forum. This event, the first of its kind in Lausanne, was followed by the General Assembly of the World Union of Olympic Cities.

The Olympic Legacy Forum and the General Assembly of the World Union of Olympic Cities were held at the Olympic Museum.

    9:30-11:00 – Multistakeholder collaboration: shaping the legacy of Paris 2024

    From the candidature phase through post-Games, hosting the Olympic Games is a long-term journey. After the successful delivery of Paris 2024, key legacy stakeholders came together to share insights and uncover new opportunities. How does collaboration among diverse stakeholders evolve over time to continue benefiting local communities creating lasting legacies?

    11:30-11:45 – Move More

    ‘Move More’ (Bouger Plus) was Paris 2024 programme to encourage physical activity across schools, workplaces, and cities. Customized resources were developed to support each type of organization in creating impactful physical activity initiatives. Building on this legacy, the IOC has adapted these resources into three comprehensive toolkits designed for an international audience, making them accessible to cities and legacy organizations worldwide.

    11:45-12:30 – Impact and Legacy systems

    In this dynamic session, participants explored the multi-stakeholder collaboration on impact and legacy in the Olympic Cities of London, Lake Placid, Sarajevo as well as in the Republic of Korea. By examining real examples of programs and events, attendees gained insights into how various organisations work together to achieve common goals. These goals encompass promoting physical activity and community engagement, as well as managing sports infrastructure and Olympic education.

    13;45-15.00 – Stakeholders’ Consultation on IOC’s Impact and Legacy strategic approach

    As the IOC is reflecting on the implementation of Olympic Agenda 2020+5 and embarking on a new Olympiad, this engaging session gathered insights from the Olympic hosts and legacy entities to help shape the IOC’s approach to impact and legacy in the coming years.
